Garner 'Stalker' Has Mental Disorder, Says Aunt

Jennifer Garner's alleged stalker has a mental disorder which doctors have tried to regulate with prescribed medication, according to his aunt.The Alias star was granted a temporary restraining order against Steven Burky on 7 November after she submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court an alarming declaration detailing Burky's behaviour.
In the document, the actress alleged that "Mr Burky has been stalking and harassing me," sending "packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts and following me around the country... his obsessive and harassing behaviour has escalated to the point of becoming dangerous and threatening."
Burky first initiated contact with Garner in 2002, when he disguised himself as a college student in Ohio and then as a punk rocker at a record store in Los Angeles in order to meet her, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
He even sent an email to a member of Garner's film crew in February, begging that the star be warned about a vision he had in which she would be persecuted by a mob.
But according to his aunt Maxine Burky, the 36-year-old's obsession is the result of a psychological condition.
She tells the New York Daily News, "He does have a mental disorder. He's supposed to be taking medication. It's been an infatuation for many years. He's not dangerous."
Maxine insists that the Burky family sympathises with Garner: "Something had to be done. I understand a stalker can ruin someone's life."
In the temporary restraining order, a judge ruled that Burky must stay 100 yards (300 feet/91 metres) from Garner, her husband Ben Affleck and their daughter Violet.
A hearing has been scheduled for Thursday to make the order permanent, but Burky will not be in court as he is reportedly in a psychiatric ward.

Actress Jennifer Garner has been awarded a temporary restraining order against an alleged stalker out of fear for the safety of her family.Editors at TMZ.com claim to have obtained court documents ordering Steven Burky to stay away from Garner after he reportedly initiated contact with the actress in 2002.
Garner alleges in the declaration, "Mr. Burky has been stalking and harassing me," sending "packages and letters containing delusional and paranoid thoughts and following me around the country... his obsessive and harassing behaviour has escalated to the point of becoming dangerous and threatening...
"I am currently pregnant and fear for the safety of my second child once born."
The documents allege Burky has shown up at her home, saying, "God has sent him a vision of her being persecuted in some manner that may result in her death."
A member of Garner's security team has also submitted a declaration, adding, "Mr. Burky now represents a clear threat to Ms. Garner's life."
Burky is reportedly under involuntary psychiatric hold following the Los Angeles Police Department's involvement in the case.
Garner and husband Ben Affleck share two-year-old daughter Violet and are expecting their second child in the coming months.
A hearing has been scheduled for Thursday to make the order permanent.

Like many of Hollywood's leading ladies who counted on him to create their glamorous looks, Jennifer Garner is reeling from the loss of makeup artist Paul Starr, who died in his Los Angeles home Monday night."It's a real blow to the people that loved him," Garner tells PEOPLE. "I'm just shocked. The real effect of not having him around is going to just hit us more and more both personally and professionally."
She adds: "I can't think of a thing that I did, that I loved, that Paul wasn't a part of. It's a horrible shock to me. He was such a warm, kind, wonderful man. He will be missed."
Speaking to PEOPLE on Wednesday at Walt Disney's 10th Anniversary party for the Baby Einstein line of merchandise, Garner, 36, held back tears as she remembered her dear friend.
"We were really close," the actress says. "He was supposed to do my makeup this morning so that we could catch up. I think that the world just got a little less pretty."
In addition to Garner, with whom he had worked for several years, Starr created signature looks for stars such as Angelina Jolie, Nicole Richie, and Madonna, and considered among his closest friends actress Rosanna Arquette.
The cause of Starr's death was unknown, pending an autopsy.

Jennifer Garner finally confirmed Wednesday what her baby bump has made clear for weeks – that she and husband Ben Affleck are expecting their second child."We're so excited, obviously," Garner told Access Hollywood at Walt Disney's 10th Anniversary party for the Baby Einstein line of merchandise.
Garner joked about the endless speculation – even crediting her obvious pregnancy to "carbs for breakfast."
"It always makes me laugh when people say 'Is she?' 'Isn't she?' It's like eventually you will know, so just chill out for a minute," she told Access Hollywood.
And thanks to her toddler Violet at home, Garner isn't sweating having another baby in the house.
"Yeah, been through it," Garner said. "It's all good, it's great. I'm really excited."
